It pains me to write this, but after much consideration, many conversations, and with the guidance of our local government and schools, I have decided to close the dance studio temporarily beginning on Monday, March 16th, 2020.
This decision has not been easy to make, but the health and wellness of our dancers, their families, and our greater community is very important to us. If social-distancing is the answer, we want our dancers to know that coming together as a community to do the right thing, though difficult, is always what matters.
At this time, we are going to close the studio for two weeks. We hope to re-open on Monday, March 30th, but we will keep you informed should that need to change. In the event we are able to open back up early, we are considering opening the studio during Spring Break. Please be mindful that the studio may need to be closed longer, and we will cross that bridge when we get to it, keeping you informed along the way.
Miss Nina and I have been working diligently to come up with a plan for some online resources for our dancers during this time apart. We want to keep them moving and doing what they love, dancing, even from home! We are so fortunate to be experiencing this in a time when technology can keep us connected. We will start with recording routines and sharing them so dancers can continue practicing at home, including a list of their songs. We are also working on content we can share to keep the learning going and will continue to use our social media pages to share challenges/daily movement the dancers can partake in.
With so much uncertainty around us I can tell you this without a doubt: the dance community we have cultivated at SDS is strong, resilient, and undeniably close. We are being asked to pivot, so pivot we will. This is a time to lean in, to lift each other up, to show compassion, togetherness, to hold space for others, and to be a light.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this. We are in this together, in uncharted waters, and we're all just trying to steer our ships in the right direction.
With so much love, Miss Meg, Miss Nina + Miss Morgan
