More about the Owner...

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Signature Dance Studio! My name is Miss Meghan Libous, owner and instructor at Signature Dance Studio. I am beyond blessed and so grateful that you've found us! I cannot wait to share my passion and enthusiasm for dance with you and your dancers!

I was born and raised in Binghamton, NY where I began studying dance at the age of seven. I received my training from exceptional instructors at the Dance Connection. At the time, I did not know that my tap shoes and pirouettes would so quickly become the passion that would propel my life’s journey.

I began teaching dance at age 16 and quickly realized that my passion for dance lay not only in it’s physical movements but also in the thoughtful and intentional choreography that translates on stage. Post High School I pursued a Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language - English Interpreting from Keuka College. During my time at Keuka I was actively involved in the dance team as a dancer and also as a 2-year coach. Upon graduation, I found myself back at the Dance Connection where my passion to share my love of dance with others continued to grow.

For the past five years I have been working as a freelance American Sign Language Interpreter during the day, and teaching dance four nights a week. During this time, my personal life led me to the Homer area where the only thing I found to be missing was a school of dance where all dancers would be able to learn not only the fundamentals of dance but also about life, love, and friendship.. It is the mission of Signature Dance to not only grow beautiful dancers but more importantly beautiful people.

So, here it is, my dream come true! With the encouragement of those very same people who taught me everything from how to point my toes, to how to be being kind and loving, I have opened the doors to my very own dance studio. I hope Signature Dance Studio becomes everything for your dancer that my very first studio was for me.

With love,
Miss Meg

More about Miss Nina

Nina Capone graduated from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) with a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising. She started her dance career at the age of three at Jill Reiner's Cortland dance studio, moving on to Cortland City Ballet at seven years old, and then to the SUNY Cortland Performing Arts Institute from age 11 to 18, where she took ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and hip hop until she graduated from Dryden high school. Nina was a member of the Cortland Comets gymnastics team, sponsored by the YMCA, for eight years. Following her years as a gymnast, she served as an instructor to children who were beginning the study of gymnastics, as well as a teaching assistant for beginning and intermediate dance students at the Performing Arts Institute. To keep up her performance skills while at college, she took dance classes at FIT. Nina continued her dance career as a teacher at Tre Bella’s for two years teaching ballet, jazz and acro.

We are so happy to have Miss Nina join our dance family to instruct our ballet students!

Why We're Unique

Miss Meg is also an American Sign Language - English Interpreter, which allows her to bring a unique element to her choreography, the addition of ASL to her pieces. Her 'signature mark' on her choreography.

Many of our students will utilize American Sign Language (ASL) in their lyrical and contemporary dances!
